China's Economy Grows 5.2% in First Three Quarters of 2025

China's GDP expanded 5.2 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of 2025, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In Q3 alone, GDP reached over 101.5 trillion yuan (approximately 14.3 trillion U.S. dollars), marking a 4.8 percent annual increase. Industrial output rose 6.2 percent over the same period, driven by strong performance in  equipment manufacturing(up 9.7 percent) and high-tech manufacturing( up 9.6 percent). China’s foreign trade also showed positive momentum, with the total value of goods imports and exports up 4 percent in the first nine months. Exports led the way with a 7.1 percent increase, while imports edged down 0.2 percent.

On the consumer side, retail sales grew 4.5 percent, and value-added services rose 5.4 percent in the first nine months. The NBS noted that the economy continues to show resilience and steady momentum, citing stable production, robust supply, and the emergence of new growth drivers. A spokesperson added that there are solid foundations and supportive measures in place for China to meet its 2025 economic targets.
